Albacete resumes training on Monday with captain Agus Medina back in rehab, and the clear goal: 50 points to secure Segunda División status.

What happened to Agus Medina?

The Catalan midfielder suffered an ankle injury on February 22, a complication of a tibia‑fibula fracture. In his interview he explained that “the injury absorbed almost all the impact” and that timelines shifted from the original estimate. Recovery is progressing well, though he has not set a return date, insisting on coming back “as soon as possible and fully fit”.

Why is his return important?

Medina is one of the Alba captains and a key piece in Alberto González’s system. With most of the squad from last season still in place, the club trusts his leadership to help reach the “magical 50 points”. The player himself said: “First the 50 points, save the category as soon as possible and then look upwards”. His presence on the pitch adds stability to the midfield and boosts dressing‑room morale.

What does the pre‑season bring?

The first‑team spent three days at the ‘Andrés Iniesta’ Sports City for physical tests, medical checks and individualized sessions. Tomorrow the first full‑team training is expected under González’s direction. The club also announced three new signings: Corpas, Mario Soberón and Sergio Ortuño, who will join the small‑group drills.

What is the friendly schedule?

Albacete has confirmed six preparatory matches. The opener will be on July 17 at Butarque against Leganés. It continues on July 21 against Al Kholood (Saudi Arabia) at Pinatar Arena and on July 24 versus Al Rayyan (Qatar) at the same venue. In August, the team will travel on August 1 to Buñol’s Sports City to face Levante, and will finish the phase with two home games: August 7 against Eldense and August 8 versus Real Murcia.

What does the fan base expect?

Medina addressed supporters, urging them to keep backing the club and believing in the project. “I hope this year stays on the same path, that people keep supporting us,” he said. With the squad largely intact and reinforcements already arriving, fans have reasons to trust Albacete will hit the 50‑point target and retain its league position.
